DG ‘Dirty GZ’s’ Official Logo Design

I was approached by the Manchester Hip-Hop group’Dirty GZ’s’ to create a logo for them in which they could use for their album cover and other purposes. I was given total creative control on this project. I arranged them to come to my college to do a photo shoot in which I was also the photographer. I took a range of photographs and we made a joint decision on one which one I would actually use. I’ve always wanted to use a flame effect and thought it would be good to use it in this design. I looked through dozens of tutorials on Youtube and chose one I thought was most effective. The idea to use a flame effect came from an album cover from Edguy: Hall Of Flames.

Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘The 39 Steps’ Movie Poster

The challenge was to design a poster for the Alfred Hitchcock film ‘The 39 Steps’ (1935). The poster had to look like it was designed in that period of time and also visually give you an idea of what the film was actually about. I researched a range of posters that were made for this movie for inspiration but what really inspired me was a movie poster I came across called ‘The Man With The Golden Arm‘ by Saul Bass. I used both inspirations to create my piece. I kept the design basic cutting out squares and producing a creative layout.

Ian Swift inspired Blue Note Record Sleeves (1) – Louis Armstrong

In these 12” inch record sleeves I have created, I attempted to combine the styles of my favourite graphic designer called Ian ‘Swifty’ Swift using his street style (typography) and the cover art of Blue Note Records which was a jazz record label famous for jazz musicians of the 60’s and 70’s. There are three sleeves in total. I have created my own style of typeface to develop my record sleeves from the text to the background.

USAFLAG3

Green Peace Poster (USA Flag)

My idea for this flag was based on air pollution. My idea was to show that air pollution in America was on the uprise by turning the American flag into a chart. I also replaced the stars of the flag with symbols in the attempt to show the viewer some of the main causes of air pollution.
